About Joe
Experience and Commitment
My commitment is to make Bangor a leader in economic growth, infrastructure development, education, healthcare and social justice. Bangor is about all of us; all of us moving forward together.
I grew up as a Navy brat with my mom, following my dad all over the world. I experienced so many different people and cultures, yet both my parents always made sure to keep us grounded with our Maine roots for every holiday and summer. When my dad retired from the Navy, we moved back to Penobscot County where I graduated from John Bapst Memorial High School, graduated from the University of Maine, and followed in my dad’s and grandad’s footsteps commissioning as a United States Army Officer.
I spent a large portion of my time developing my skills as a leader in the Army. While I exectuted my ever-changing duties and requirements in the fast-paced world of the military, I was fortunate to work beside some of the best and brightest people all across this country. Through all the heartaches and the fond memories, I learned so much in such a short amount of time, but one thing will always stand out to me. The camaraderie I shared with everyone taught me being a leader is not a position of authority, it is a position of immeasurable responsibilities to take care of those who rely on you.
To be a successful City Councilor, I must follow those same ethics. So I do not plan to be a politician in this role; I plan to be a leader. Leaders are only successful when they organize enough people around them to do the necessary things the people want. I will not be representing myself as a Bangor Councilor, I will be representing you, the citizen. To achieve this, I will be using social media to consistently organize, discuss, and strategize the future of Bangor because this city is more than just nine people, and it is time to new leadership that understands that.
